What is Opus Pop Stars?

​A fun band program where students can gain experience playing music in a band with their peers, playing songs they know and like!

There are 4 levels to the Pop Stars program (see below) starting as early as 5 years old (Mini level) and progressing to our advanced, audition-only Platinum level band.

The Platinum Pop Stars program is the highest level of achievement for an Opus Music School student and provides exclusive learning, performing, and recording opportunities. Acceptance into the band is an honor only achieved by a limited number of students.

Open Auditions Information

Platinum Level: OPEN AUDITIONS

Registration is currently OPEN for our Gold and Platinum level bands! Simply fill out the form on this page.

Auditions will be held via pre-recorded video submission.

Audition Steps:

  1. Fill out the registration form to indicate your interest.

  2. Submit your audition video to info@opusmusicschool.com.

Video Audition:

  1. Introduction Interview: The applicant will answer a few questions about themselves.

  2. Song of Choice: Choose a song that demonstrates your strengths and musical style on your instrument.

  • Pop Stars Gold Level
    -Intermediate students ages 9+

    Pop Stars Platinum Level
    -Late intermediate/advanced students ages 12+

    Students can audition for Pop Stars on the following instruments:
    -Bass
    -Drums
    -Guitar
    -Keyboard/Piano
    -Voice

    Prerequisites:
    -Current student at Opus Music School
    -2 years private music lessons (can be at Opus or not at Opus)

  • Students must be available for weekly in-person classes and regular performances in the community.

  • Students who wish to audition should:

    -Exhibit technical ability and promising potential on their instrument

    -Be self-motivated, open-minded, and a team player

    -Be comfortable representing Opus Music School and the Pop Stars program in the local community and on social media

    -Make a commitment to attend, be punctual, and be ready for all classes

Student Progression / Levels

 

Opus Pop Stars Band - Mini Level

• Prerequisite: None / Beginners

• Ages: 5-7

• Description: Fun intro to music class by rotating among piano, guitar, drums, and singing

• Play pop songs in a group using fun, color-coded, animated curriculum

 
 

Opus Pop Stars Band - Bronze Level

• Prerequisite: 6 mos of music experience (i.e., 2 terms of Pop Stars Mini or 6 mos of private music lessons)

• Ages: 7-10

• Description: Learn how to read real music notation in a fun way while playing pop music in a group

• Rotate among piano, guitar, drums, and singing

 
 

Opus Pop Stars Band - Gold Level

• Prerequisite: 2 years of private music lessons, current student of Opus Music School, and pass auditions

• Ages: 9 and up

• Description: Intermediate music concepts and band performance opportunities

• Prepare for auditions into Pop Stars Platinum band

 
 

Opus Pop Stars Band - Platinum Level

• Prerequisite: Pass audition and current student of Opus Music School

• Ages: 12 and up

• Description: Play actual full arrangements of pop songs

• The official band of Opus Music School and headliner at Opus Music Festival
