2022 Opus Pop Stars Bands - Open Auditions
Calling all music superstars! Registration is currently OPEN to audition for our elite Opus Pop Stars Gold and Platinum level bands! Auditions for the 2022 year will be held in January via pre-recorded video submission. Below you can find the openings for instruments in the bands that we are looking to fill in the upcoming year:

What is Opus Pop Stars?
The Platinum Pop Stars Band "The Magnesium Marvels" wowing the crowd
during their headlining act at the first ever Opus Music Festival this past September!
A fun band program where students can gain experience playing music in a band with their peers, playing songs they know and like!
The Platinum Pop Stars program is the highest level of achievement for an Opus Music School student and provides exclusive learning, performing, and recording opportunities. Acceptance into the band is an honor only achieved by a limited number of students.
Audition Steps:
Fill out the audition registration form ASAP to indicate your interest.
You will receive an email containing audition details. Start practicing!
Submit your audition video no later than Wednesday, January 5, 2022.

Trick or Treat Village Recap
Thank you to all the Opus students and families who came out to the Hacienda Heights "Trick or Treat Village" at the Hacienda Heights Community Center on October 27!
Opus Music School hosted student musical performances on the main stage, sponsored a sea-animal and music themed maze called "Hallow-Marine," a free, kid-friendly walk through with music. Included was a glow in the dark music instrument trivial game and carnival games. We also had piano, guitar, ukulele, drum, and voice students perform on the event stage.
We had a huge turn out and over 500 attendees participated in our activity area. Whether you were on stage giving a superstar performance or just coming out to enjoy the festivities, we'd like to say thank you for making the night spooktacular!
Halloween Contest Winners!
We had an outstanding October here at Opus seeing our students come dressed in their Halloween best to enter our costume contest! We were super impressed with all the creative costumes that walked through our door and our judges had their work cut out for them. After a lot of deliberation our judges came to a consensus and we'd like to give a big Opus congratulations to our winners:
1st place winner: Zoe D. (12) her scary accurate Haunted Mansion ride costume and earned her the 1st place Opus prize basket, including a $20 Target Gift Card!
2nd place winner: Iris P. (5) who stole the show with her pop star costume and won her very own prize basket.
Thank you to all of our students who participated, you all looked incredible in your costumes and really helped make our first Halloween season back in person "boo"-tiful! We can't wait to see how our students will wow us next year!
Brag Badges
Piano student, Gianna R. (8), was so proud to have earned her first two Brag Badges during her in-person lesson with teacher Ms. Migiwa!
Now that our first ever round of Opus Brag Badges have started making their way out to our incredible students, it's been great to see them celebrating their achievements in music! We're always so proud of our students for their dedication to their lessons and growing more as musicians every week- and we're excited that these badges are giving all our superstar students a chance to show off their pride!
Now that we're in November, students who have been enrolled in lessons since August 2021 are going to be eligible to receive their first Brag Badge! If you're one of our top notch three month students be ready to complete your teacher's show-off skill in your upcoming lesson so that you can take home your first pin!
For any online students, after you earn your badge you can either stop by in-person to collect your badge or have our office mail it straight to your home for $2 to cover shipping and handling. Our office staff will be reaching out to you after your lesson to let you know of you or your young musician's big accomplishment and we'll help coordinate everything to get your Brag Badges to you as soon as possible!
The next badges come out at the 6 month mark! Stay tuned through our newsletter to see which sea animal mascot is next!
Upcoming Holiday Breaks
With the holidays fast approaching, we hope everyone is looking forward to spending time with their family and friends to celebrate the season! To give all of our students and teachers the chance to enjoy these holidays, we will be closed for our annual holiday breaks and there will be no lessons, in person or online, during these scheduled periods.
Opus Music School 2021-2022 Holiday School Closures
Thanksgiving Break: Tuesday, November 23, 2021 to Sunday, November 28, 2021
Winter Break: Tuesday, December 21, 2021 to Sunday, January 2, 2022
We would like to also remind all parents and students that for lessons that fall during any of our school breaks we do not provide makeup credits- This is because our yearly calendar is planned out so that no matter what day of the week you have lessons you'll receive 48 lessons over the whole year! Your monthly tuition is based around the 48 lessons in a year and the average rate of 4 lessons per month so your billing will remain consistent each month even when you receive an extra lesson or have a week off.
We hope everyone has a very happy Thanksgiving break this week and we can't wait to see you when we return on Monday, November 29th! We're so thankful for all of our amazing students and families!

1. What do you like the most about taking music lessons at Opus Music School?
Opus Music School is like a second family to me. Between taking singing, piano, and band lessons, I get to be with Opus three times a week. I love seeing my teachers, the staff, and the students. It is such a special place to be in person and on Zoom.
2. What do you like the most about your teacher?
I know my teachers care a lot about me and they do their very best to help me grow as a musician. They see my hard work and dedication and they understand me. They keep me challenged while always being so kind. My teachers are so smart and talented and they always make learning such a positive experience.
3. What is your favorite piece to play and why?
I have many favorite pieces. I love songs that have a positive message and that are inspirational. Some of my favorites songs to sing and play on the piano are “Amazing Grace,” “Swing Low, Sweet Chariot,” “Somewhere Over the Rainbow,” and “Count on Me.” I also enjoy the songs I play with the Gold Superstars band.
4. What challenges have you faced when learning music and how did you overcome it?
The challenges I faced were learning more elaborate and technical pieces. However, I enjoyed the challenges. I knew that I could learn that music as long as I practiced every day and continued to try my best.
5. What is your goal with music?
My goal with music is to continue to work hard to learn more about how to make beautiful music and then to share those songs with others. I love making beautiful music and expressing myself through it. I know that when I perform, it can also help others feel the message of the songs. Music is so powerful and so special. My goal is to continue learning how to be a better musician.
6. What makes you unique? What are some of your other interests?
I think God made us all unique and very special. I know I always try to be as kind as possible to everyone. Having a kind heart is so important. I always try my best in everything I do. I love learning music but I am also very curious about a lot of other things so I love learning at school too. When I am not in class and doing homework, I am busy playing soccer, basketball, swimming, reading, gardening, building with Legos, and being with family and friends.
We're so proud of you, Caleb! We know that you've got a super bright, musical future ahead of you!
